If you've been browsing our store, you may have come across Ferguson's Eggshellent Meal Topper.
Made from 100% Australian eggshells, dried and crushed into powder, this meal topper is packed with Calcium, Glucosamine and Chondroitin - 3 essential minerals important for strong bones, teeth and joints in dogs.
Why not just give them actual eggshells from your morning scramble you ask? Why bother turning it into eggshell powder?
Well, if your doggo is willing to lap up your breakkie remains then by all means this is indeed the best way! In addition to reducing your household waste, this is the easiest and most economical way for dogs to consume eggshells. Literally, they would be eating your rubbish!
But of course, Fergus the fussy groodle wouldn't have it. He would eat the egg fine but would leave the shells behind!
Devastating, given that Groodle owners everywhere rave about the benefits of eggshells in keeping the fluffy Groodle coat super soft and shiny.
And that's why we turned the shells into powder form. A teaspoon sprinkle on top of his meals 3 times a week did wonders for his coat and no more leaving broken eggshells untouched in his bowl.

So exactly which dogs would most benefit from having eggshells in their regular diet?
1. Senior Dogs
Older dogs would need higher calcium intake in order to keep their weakened teeth, bones and joints strong and healthy. If your dog is 7 years or above, the eggshells could be an impawtant addition to their diet.
2. Dogs with known Joint issues
Though the eggshells wont cure any known joint issues, it certainly wouldn't hurt to add a boost of calcium in their daily diet and hopefully improve symptoms.
3. Dogs at risk of Joint issues
Many breeds are genetically at risk of joint issues. Diet is an impawtant aspect of keeping these risks at bay and regular eggshell consumption will keep bones and joint strong and hopefully prevent any joint issues presenting altogether.
Breeds that are at risk of joint issues include:
- German shepherds
- Golden retrievers
- Labrador retrievers
- Dachsunds
- Newfoundlands
- Bernards
- Rottweilers
- Great Danes
- Mastiffs
- Old English Sheep Dogs
- Toy Poodles
- Maltese
- Jack Russell Terriers
- Yorkshire Terriers
- Pomeranians
- Pekingese
- Cavelier King Charles Spaniels
- Boston Terriers
- Plummer Terriers
- Patterdale Terriers
In addition to its numerous health benefits, our Eggshellent meal topper adds a dash of deliciousness to your dog's meal, keeping their dinner bowl novel and interesting.
